Oops!

Sidewalk 1 Lynn 0
I decided to save $15. and wash Charlie in my big, happy tub today. When I was done he kept shaking and rubbing up against the furniture. I took him outside and walked in the sunshine around the cul-de-sac. I wasn't paying attention and tripped on an uneven sidewalk. OUCH!!
My chin hit first and then my hand. No stitches in my chin. But my hand is probably broken.
I had xrays and a CAT scan, I go back for results on Friday am. Mark spent the day with me at the Dr. poor guy! I sure wish I'd gone to the dog wash!!!
I'm doing fine, Mom, don't worry!!!! Very little pain! I have laughed bunches today!!!!

A New Exercise Plan

When I was in the Dr.'s office this week waiting for my neighbor, I looked at a magazine called SHAPE (I think). It was an old issue, February, but all the other magazines were old, too. In it I found this neat exercise routine that takes 30 minutes. It was especially designed to do "anywhere" or "on the go". It takes only a jump rope and a 5 or 10 pound weight. This sounded like a great idea, jumping rope is so easy!! It was like this:

Warm up 4 min.
jump rope 2 min.
lunges 2 min.
weight lift 2 min.
squats 2 min
jump rope 2 min.
lunges, etc, etc....for 30 minutes

So the first thing I had to do was find a jump rope. Mark said we had some rope in the garage, so I found it and cut off a good sized piece. I took some scissors out with me, but they wouldn't work. I was so impatient, and wanted to get started jumping rope so I spied a hack saw, that was just what I needed to hack off a piece of rope!! Then I had to find a weight, Mark has some, but they are 15lbs and 20lbs. I chose the 15 lb.

By now it was 9 pm and I was starting to get tired, so I thought I better hurry and get my 30 minutes in. I couldn't find a clock, so I took my cell phone and 15 lb. weight and rope and went to the basement.

First I did the warm up, that went fine. I skipped, walked, marched around and got my heart rate up pretty well. The came the jump roping. It wasn't the way I remembered it! It was hard work, I kept tripping over the rope. I jumped for 30 seconds and looked at the clock, I thought it was 3 minutes worth. I was dying. Then came some lunges...ouchhhhhhhh!!! My knees were screaming. Then lifting that 15lb weight over my head and down, actually that was the easiest hard part. Then squats, I wasn't sure what a squat was, but I couldn't do it. I was totally out of balance. Now I'm back to jump roping, which I did for about 30 seconds and gave up on the whole thing. I think I was in the basement a total of 10 minutes.

This morning I was sore all over! I couldn't believe the places that hurt!

When I walked Charlie this morning I couldn't believe how wonderful a walk feels!!! I was flying on air! Today I walked the dog twice....

I can't decide if I'll go back down and try out the exercise routine again. But I have to get in shape before the Cousin Reunion in June at the Lake. I suppose we will be expected to wear a bathing suit? (Brenda, your 5K got me thinking)

Providential Partnership

My quiet time today was amazing...as usual! Most of what I'm going to write is totally the words and work of Joe Stowell. He was commenting on Ruth 2:3,8

So Ruth set out and went and gleaned in the field after the reapers, and she happened to come to the part of the field belonging to Boaz, who was of the clan of Elimelech...Then Boaz said to Ruth, "Now, listen, my daughter, do not go to glean in another field or leave this one, but keep close to my young women."

The story of Ruth and Boaz is a great example of how God uses people to accomplish His plan. Notice that we don't read that God used Boaz to rescue Ruth and Naomi from their plight.
It's not spelled out for us quite like that, and it certainly wasn't obvious to them at the time, but we know the end of the story. We can see God's hidden hand was working behind the scenes in Boaz's choice to help Ruth in her time of need. God used Boaz in a providential partnership that would fulfill His plan...

We can't expect to be aware of our involvement in the providence of God. But I can be sure
that He's at work in my life even when I'm not aware of it. He wants me to partner with Him to live by His Will and His Way to good and glorious ends! Open my eyes to see Your work, and give me a ready heart to ask, "What can I do to help?"

The Shack

I have just been on an amazing journey! Sunday our pastor asked us to read "The Shack" by William P. Young. The book store at church already had the book in stock, so I purchased one.

It is fiction, and I don't normally read fiction, that's what the Pastor said, too. The book is only 228 pages and I started it last night. Guess what? I haven't gotten much done today!!! I just finished it. I think reading this book was more important than anything that I would have accomplished today.

It reminded me of my Emmaus Walk. It is a life changer. It is a must read. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, so I won't comment too much. It has a web site http://www.theshackbook.com/, I haven't looked at it yet. I would love to hear from anyone who has read it.

It really made me think alot about how God works, the persons of the Trinity, and my spiritual journey.

Yo-Yo Craft Project

Yo-Yos are the most fun sewing project! Leesa, Mom, Grace, and I got started making Yo-Yos last fall. We have made lots of Yo-yos, but not many projects with them. There are special plastic yo-yo makers at Quilt stores. I think you can find out about making them at Turkeyfeathers, in my favorite links. (I want to learn how to put links in my text, but I'm not there yet). You will notice in the pictures that I just glued the yo-yos to an inexpensive fabric shade. The pink lamp came from a garage sale....25 cents. The blue one from a junk store..$15. I still have lots of those color yo-yos, I hope to sew them on the quilted shams in that room. Google yo-yo fabric, to get the right kind of yo-yo. It is such a beautiful day, I must get going......spring fever!

He Lights Up My Life

My nephew Grant has been here this late afternoon and evening. We have had a wonderful time. He helped me bake a cake, his favorite yellow cake with chocolate icing. We had fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and asparagus....He loved the asparagus, what a guy!!!! After our heavy supper, we went outside and played basketball. I'm glad there wasn't too many people out! I won 28 - 24. He has a great shot!!! Grant is staying all night, we enjoy him sooo much. This is one of the greatest blessings of moving to the Indy area. I have so loved getting to know my niece Grace (14) and Grant (11). Thanks to my sis Leesa for sharing!

Very Special Ladies

Left to right....Aunt Mary, Aunt Carolyn and my Dear Mom Nancy......we were all together at the 50th anniversary of my cousins Bob & Lois. You won't find three more Godly and generous ladies. I am so blessed! It was so good to see them together. Thank you Lord!

Marvelous Monday

A beautiful day today. Cold, but sunny. Predicting frost tonight, took a few photos of the flowers in case they get frozen! Applied for a job at the new Renaissance Marriott Hotel....I have been looking for a part time job. (Proverbs 3:6) I had a nice interview and was excited about the beautiful pictures and design boards of the interior. It opens June 1. Sometimes I think I'm in a mid-life crisis. They are looking for full time help. I wonder what kind of job I could do? Front desk, room cleaner, concierge, banquet server, doorman??????? I'm so mixed up about working!

New Subject! Leesa (my sis) and I had lunch with our cousins today. Karen is in town from Florida and her brother Billy lives in Speedway. We met for lunch and it was wonderful. They are some older than us, children of mom's older brother. We talked about grandma and grandpa's farm, and all the good food grandma made. They had a hard childhood and stayed with us some in the summers. It is amazing how much love that we all have for each other even though we don't see each other often. It was a blessing to have time together.

Leesa and I spent some time together after lunch. She is truly the best sister in the world. I praise the Lord and fall to my knees in thankfulness that we are blessed to live close. 12 minutes! Although she is the youngest, she is definitely the smartest and wisest! She is so good to listen to my sermons and struggles! I think we are both growing spiritually and it helps to share our spiritual journey. By the way, she fixed our supper for tonight, Mexican Baked Enchiladas......am I blessed or what???

A Happy from Fay

Today at church my friend Fay brought me a wonderful surprise!!! A "Block Optic" sugar bowl. I had mentioned to her that I saw it at the Flea Market on Friday....and asked her to look for it if she went on Saturday. With the most beautiful smile she presented it to me!!! Now I have the creamer and sugar. It was Fay and her husband Lee's first visit to the flea market. Fay enjoyed it. Fay and Lee are in our small group Bible Study. We just started a new study "Daniel" by Beth Moore. Fay owns the DVD study and we are just watching and not doing the home work. Three of us women have already been through it, and we are excited to see the DVD's again. Our real men are enjoying Beth!

Here We Go!

Welcome to my blog! Thanks to the encouragement and inspiration of Cousin Brenda, here I go! So far the hardest part has been to pick a name for my blog! Proverbial comes from my love of the book of Proverbs. I read it every day and it inspires and teaches me something new all the time. The Pilgrimage comes from my life journey, I'm on my way, but not there yet! I recently finished a Bible Study by Beth Moore entitled "Stepping Up". It was teaching about the Psalms of Ascent, the Pilgrimage of the Jews to Jerusalem for the Feasts. It was amazing and so applicable to my journey.

This weekend we have been dog sitting for my sister Leesa's adorable dog, "Fanny" so I'm attempting to put her and "Charlie" our basset hound's pictures on this post.
